**Other Important Information**

Carpool/Drop Off

For your convenience we will provide a carpool drop off in the morning.  Staff members will start unloading children from cars beginning at 8:50 and continue until 9:10.  Anyone arriving after 9:10 will need to park and bring their child into his/her child's classroom.  If you prefer, you may also park and bring your child in yourself before this time. Keep your child with you until taking them to their room.  Please make sure your teachers know your child has arrived.  The teachers are preparing for the day from 8:30 until 8:50, so please wait until after 8:50 before bringing your child into the classroom.

Program Material

The Abeka Book program is used for our 2,3,4, and 5 year old classes.  These fees are due on the first day of preschool.  We are sorry that we are not allowed to give you these books in the case of your child dropping out early.  This is part of our agreement with Abeka to be approved to use their curriculum.

Computers

A computer center is provided for our 3, 4 & 5 year olds at no additional cost to you.  Each of these classes will have a computer in their room.  The children will not only love this, but it provided an excellent opportunity to give them a head start for years ahead.

Safety

Please follow the enter and exit signs at the driveway.  Drive SLOWLY!!  Watch for children in the parking lot.  Keep your children close to you at all times.  No parking allowed under the canopy.  The canopy will be used for carpool drop-off.

If someone other than the parent is picking up your child, please give a note to the teacher. If an urgent situation arises, you may call the director or the assistant director.

It is important to know where you will be when your child is in our care.  Make sure we have any changes in phone numbers for home, work, cell phone, etc.  Any day that you can't be reached by one of these numbers, please give your teacher a not providing numbers where you may be contacted in the event of an emergency.

Child Abuse

By NC law, caregivers are required to report suspected cases of child abuse and neglect.  Teacher will report to the director of any such cases.

Separation

Separation is a natural part of growing up.  To make this transition as easy as possible we suggest the following:

Prepare your child by talking about school and what they will be doing during the day.  Explain to
the child that he/she is going to school to learn and play.

Reassure your child that he/she will have a fun and positive experience.

Leave quickly.  This might be hard, but it is the best thing to do.

Remember, your child's teacher will be there to help you during this transition process.

We ask that parents do not linger in the classrooms.  If you need to discuss something in length
with a teacher, we ask that you set up an appointment with the teacher.  The teachers have the
safety of other children in their hands and cannot be tied up a drop off or pick up.

What to bring, What NOT to bring

Please do not let children bring food or toys to their class.  This only causes a hardship for everyone.  In the older classrooms, a designated day may be set for show-n-tell.  You will be notified if your class is doing this.

All children are asked to have a change of clothes appropriate for the season either in his/her cubby.  Accidents do happen regardless of their age.  Clothes and sweaters, coats, etc. should have their name on them.

We do go outside every day possible, so please send a sweater or coat if there is any chance it may be needed.

Sickness

If a child has a communicable disease or serious illness, the teacher may ask for a doctor's statement that the child is able to take part in the normal routine before he/she returns to school.  Parents, please call the school with the diagnosis as soon as possible so the other families can be notified that their children may have been exposed.

Allergies:  Information about substances to which your child is allergic needs to be in writing on the information sheet.  Please report any changes or new information in writing.

If your child has a fever or a green runny nose, please keep him or her at home.

We try to get children outside for a period of time each day, except in extreme conditions.   Please dress children appropriately.
If your child is too sick to go outside with the class, the he/she is too sick to be at school.
